About Kevin

I have been working for the Board of Veterans’ Appeals for the last 8 years. In that time, I have developed expertise in all areas of veterans’ claims. I adjudicated over 800 veteran claims, including claims for service connection, increased rating, earlier effective dates, and DIC claims.

Professional Experience

Before working for the Board of Veterans’ Appeals, I served as a Magistrate for the Circuit Court in Fairfax County, Virginia. In that role, I served as an adjudicator, making impartial probable cause determinations and issuing arrest warrants, search warrants, emergency protective orders, emergency custody orders, and temporary detention orders. I also made initial bail determinations for defendants who were apprehended by the police. As part of the bail determination process, I also made referrals to a special veterans’ diversion program run by the Fairfax County Court for defendants who were veterans. This program connected veteran defendants with social services, opportunities for rehabilitation, and deferred adjudication, which could result in charges being reduced or even dismissed upon completion of court-ordered services.

In September 2017, I started working for the Board of Veterans’ Appeals. My father is a veteran, and I wanted to honor the sacrifice he and so many others made on behalf of their country. During that time, I handled a wide range of claims from veterans and their families. Over the years, I received several awards for the quality of my decisions.
